The application of concrete perforated brick saves land resource, protects the environment, and enables flexible laying. In addition, concrete perforated brick has the same dimension with clay perforated brick, so it suits the construction situation, construction technology, working method and habit of our country, and can be easily accepted by the design, construction and technical management personnel. As one kind of new wall materials, in July 2004, the Committee of Development and Reform formally issued Concrete Perforated Brick, a new standard of construction material industry. However, owing to one kind of new materials, there is only a little documentation and test information on the application of it. Its design and construction specification of the state, of the industry or of the local area have not been established yet. Therefore, the introduction and application of this product is limited. For both of these reasons, this article provides a series of tests and theoretical research on the material properties and the seismic performance of this product, makes analysis and summary, and provides some conclusions and suggestions formulas. The experimental study for the compressive performance and the anti-frozen performance of concrete perforated brick is carried out, and the indexes about these aspects are worked out. The results show that the compressive strength, the strength loss and the quality loss accorded with the Code requirements. In addition, experiments are carried out to study on the seismic behavior including 4 walls with concrete perforated bricks and restricting constructional columns and 3 walls only with concrete perforated bricks under the low cyclic loadings. And the bearing capacity, failure feature, hysteretic property, skeleton curve, ductility coefficient, stiffness and its attenuation of these walls have been discussed. The experimental results show that the seismic behavior of the walls with restricting constructional columns is obviously improved compared with the usual ones. That is to say, the specimens with restricting constructional columns at the boundary have good seismic behaviors. Also, the factors influencing the seismic performance are deeply analyzed, and a formula for calculation the shear loading-bearing capacity of the walls with restricting constructional column is suggested. At the same time, the formula is in comparison with other formulas. It turns out that the results calculated from the formula accord with the experimental results commendably.
