Along with the power electronics technology's development as well as the national life level's enhancement, a large number of non-linear equipments have been used in the electrical power system. The large use of non-linear equipments make the wave, which ought to be standard sinusoidal in power system, distorted, that is the appearance of harmonic. However, the harmonic is not only useless, but also will cause equipment failure and other serious damage. Thus, it is necessary to study the harmonic to reduce the pollution and damage occurred by harmonic to a minimum. The harmonic detected in the PCC(point of pommon coupling) comes from the supply system as well as user. In accordance with the "polluter pays" principle, it is necessary to identify clearly where is the main harmonic source, and to calculate quantitatively how many harmonics they generate respectively. For the producer of harmonic, it can be ordered for rectification or punishment. On the contrary, for the victims of harmonic, it could be compensated. In this way, the power quality of power system will be improved, and for the power supplement businesses and users, the principle of fairness will be embodied. This issue researches the harmonic separation and harmonic energy measurement based on on-line search zero iterative method. Through the establishment of model simulation experiment to verify the feasibility of algorithm, it is as the basis for designing a embedded system which can be able to deal with the algorithm. This system's hardware part takes the embedded processor as a core, in addition the necessary modules; The device's software part is constructed a platform that the embedded operating system is as a core. This separation algorithm is transplanted to the device and is optimized so that it can be processed rapidly.
