The electric scooter in this paper is especially designed for old people. Nowadays, the ageing population has been getting more and more enormous. So, the electric scooter will have a good market-prospect. In order to achieve the indoor and outdoor double use purpose, the adjustable axle base of the electric scooter was conceived and invented. And the adjustable axle base organization was designed and detailed analyzed in this research.This paper has particularly introduced the design of every part and assembly, including chassis, rear suspension, and seat lift and operation system assembly. Especially focus on the design of rear suspension, including the design of adjustable axle base, parameter selection of the motor and gear decelerator, calculation of spring stiffness and damping etc.Based on the parameterized design, the virtual prototype was established with ProE, and the rigid-flexible coupling model is established in ADAMS simulation circumstance. Replace some crucial parts with flexible body, and establish proper road model and tire model. Accomplish several simulations and analyze the performance of the electric scooter, which includes steady state circular test and ride comfort test respectively with random input and pulse input etc. Furthermore, separately accomplish the kinematic and dynamic simulation on the rear suspension, observe the stress distribution on the turbine and worm assembly, which can provide some references for the design.The noumenal prototype was developed and the further ride comfort test was accomplished based on the above design and analysis. The contrast analyzes and tests were also carried out which choosing more than two groups of spring stiffness and silicon damping coefficient of the rear suspension.The above design, research and test obtained the expected results, and also accomplished some purposes, which can lay the foundation for the manufacturing progress of the electric scooter.
