New Vegetable Oil Engine Test And Applied Research

More and more attentions are paied to the research and utilization of alternative fuels of internal combustion engine because of the increasing price and the drying up of the crude oil. Vegetable oil is a kind of regenerative alternative fuel which has good prospect for using in diesel engine.The experiments to investigate the combustion and emission characteristics on an YZ4102 turbo charged inter-cooling direct injection diesel engine which is fuelled with diesel and vegetable oil respectively. The heat release rate model which was established based on zero-dimension model was simulated by software-MATLAB. The results of the experiment and simulation showed that the engine running with vegetable oil and diesel has almost same power performance and the emissions of the two fuels are similar except under the lower speed and load condition when the emissions of vegetable oil are more than diesel. Compared with diesel fuel, the ignition time and ignition delay of vegetable is delayed and prolonged which result in the higher cylinder peak pressure under high load condition.Based on the results of the experiment and simulation, the YZ485QB direct injection diesel engine was improved by the use of the technology of the ELSBETT corporation in Germany. The injection pressure was increased from 19.0MPa to 22.0 MPa and a heat exchanger was installed on the top of the evaporation cooler to heat the vegetable oil. Then 100 hours durability test of the engine was made .The result showed that the diesel engine can run normally because of the reduction of the viscosity of vegetable oil and the performance of the diesel engine has not become worse after durability test. But there are more carbon deposits on combustion chamber surface (such as valves, cylinder head and piston).Finally , the diesel engine using vegetable oil was improved farther , the it was applied to the automobile . And the result showed that the performance of the automobile was wonderfull.
