It is widely acknowledged throughout architectural history that the structure of earlier Christian church was based on that of Roman basilica. Within this essay a through analysis on the formation and arrangement of architectural space is presented, and further discussion on how to interpret and define the space, and whether it is necessary to redefine the origin of earlier Christian church is also included. This essay is not only a successive effort to enrich the spatial system based on previous study but also a reconfirmation of it. It is hoped that this study will reveal more on the initial stages of space arrangement within earlier Christian church. |
