Most current solar cells rely on the photovoltaic effect in principle. That is, the sunlight photons impact photoelectric materials to achieve photoelectric transformation. However, taking into account a wide scope of the solar spectrum, this method means that we cannot acquire cost and efficiency optimization simultaneously. It's very difficult to achieve high efficiency. Considering the wave and particle nature of light, sunlight should be able to be absorbed and used in wave perspective. In the thesis, I designed a set of nano-antenna solar cells scheme under this concept. More details can be found in the following four chapters.The first chapter introduces the history of development of solar cells and the great role of nano science and technology has played in the photovoltaic area.Chapter 2 introduces predecessors'precious thoughts in antenna solar cells and related rectenna model firstly. And then the reasons why the antenna solar cells cannot be realized are pointed out. Secondly, a set of nano antenna solar cell scheme utilizing the latest nano-processing methods is provided, which includes issues such as optimized solar cell unit design, solar cell unit emulation, critical rectifying issues, improving induced voltage, solar cell units'mutual connection, polarization matching issues etc. Our design has solved key difficulties in designing antenna solar cells such as avoiding the skin effect loss of high-frequency alternative current and the precise fabricating methods of the tiny rectifier which has ultra-high response frequency and can be integrated with antenna.CST2006 simulation results show that the energy conversion efficiency of the nano antenna solar cells unit designed here can reach 71.4%.Chapter 3 introduces the major nanofabrication technologies in manufacturing this kind of solar cell firstly, which are nanoimprint technology and thin film technology. Then it presents the process of manufacturing this kind of nano antenna solar.The final chapter is a summary. Future work and possible impact are also discussed in this chapter.
