GSU is one type of important equipments for power plant's sea coal transportation. It is adapted to different types of coals, with greater power and lower price. It is used widely and becomes a common equipment on the coal port. The driving system's design of GSU is very important part for GSU's running.The GSU's drive system mainly contains Hoist,Close,Trolley,Gantry.In early system, wound rotor motors were usually used. But they always brought high starting current and large noise, which affected the lifetime of GSU. With the development of frequency converter, the squirrel-cage rotor motor's dependability and price have more excellence, they are used more and more. The squirrel-cage rotor motor has simpler frame design ,higher protection class, and less maintenance and brings more efficiency.This paper talks about the designing for driving system of Leqing Power plant's GSU based on the TA.The cabinet was designed with ABB ACS800 standard components. The main designing software is AutoCAD 2006, Elmaster 6.0 is the basic project platform. Designed to prepare an driving system which make the ACS800 as the core component. The system detailed features include: the ISU module' charging functions, emergency stop, electrical disconnect, prevention of unexpected start up, communication with PLC or computer via Profibus and so on.The driving system satisfy the customer and runs well in the coal port for Leqing Power plant.
