With rapid economic development in China, building energy consumption will continue to increase, which makes energy issues more prominent. More and more people have paid attention to how to reduce building energy consumption. There are a lot of ways of saving energy, and one important way is to use heat recovery unit. Therefore, the paper focuses on developing heat pipe heat recovery units for energy-saving of air conditioning systems, and doing the theoretical analysis and experimental research of its thermal performance.This paper firstly reviews development process of heat pipe transfer technology as well as the current domestic and international situation, and discusses the working principle and characteristics of heat pipe. Then this paper analyzes transfer mechanism and kinds of transfer limits of heat pipe in theory, and a testing system of heat pipe is established to test heat transfer performance of evaporator and condensation with the variety of the thermal flux and the capillary limitation.which can direct the design of heat pipe heat recovery unit and the experiment of performance.According to the actual condition and the conventional design method, the horizontal heat pipe exchanger is designed and on the basis ones develop the heat pipe heat recovery unit and ask the manufacturer to precess. According to experimental requirments, a testing system of heat pipe heat recovery unit is established. Firstly the stability experiment on heat pipe heat recovery unit is done. Then different conditions have been created. Different efficiency of heat recovery has been showed while different quantity of liquid filled charge ratio, different air volume and different indoor temperature The data can be applied in to developing new products.I hope that the theoretic and experimental investigation of heat pipe heat recovery unit in the paper will give some help for the future investigations and applications and be deadicated to accelerating the application of heat pipe technology in heat recovery of air-conditioning systems.
