Concentric integrated water injection technology was a novel technology, which have the characteristic of high testing efficiency and accurate testing data. Bobber flowmeter was used as the primary flow testing device in the water injection technology currently. For the bad water quality in operation field, bobber flowmeter was easy to be blocked and locked frequently in practice, what reduces the testing efficiency and increases testing period. The above-mentioned limited the effect of concentric integrated water injection technology. According to the fact,for better to meet the concentric integrated separate zone water injection technique,after the review and analysis of different flowmeters available currently,vortex principle was applied to design vortex flowmeter for concentric integrated separate zone water injection technique,the vortex downhole flowmeter was developed in this paper.In this paper, the operation principle of vortex downhole flowmeter was introduced, the difference of operation condition between ground and downhole was researched in vortex downhole flowmeter design,and a novel vortex downhole flowmeter was designed. By applying this principle, the inside diameter of the vortex flow sensor reached the scale of 14 mm, smaller than the mini-diameter record quondam reports. Corresponding structure optimizing and experiment was carried through, finally the prototype of vortex downhole flowmeter was developed. The function testing data and the application result from some oil fields, such as DaQing oil filed, DaGang Oil Field,JiDong Oil Field,CahngQing Oil Field,LiaoHe Oil Field and so on, showed the vortex downhole flowmeter got better effect.The vortex downhole flowmeter had the characteristic of higher accuracy,simple structure,and without movable parts. As a particular characteristic differentiate to other downhole flowmeters, vortex downhole flowmeter have sensitive response to converse flow, then have better adaptability when operation in bad quality water,and solved the question that bobber flowmeter was easy to be blocked and locked.The vortex downhole flowmeter developed in this paper solved the flow test problem of concentric integrated separate zone water injection technique, what established the base of large-scale application of the water injection technique. The vortex downhole flowmeter offered a new approach to flow test for separate zone water inject.
