Railway route design is the key problem that railway designer should solve. With the application of optimization method, we can improve the design quality of railway and get economic and social benefit.The major work in this paper is to introduce genetic algorithm and multiobjective decision system into the plane optimization and profile optimization. The multiobjective decision system and genetic algorithm are introduced in plane optimization and profile optimization.At first, the author creates multiobjective decision system after considering various factors. Then, the original group of planes and profiles are got automatically based on a given plane and profile. Changing the line position and curve radius is used for plane project mutation and changing mileage and elevation of change grade point is used for profile project mutation. Discrete crossover is used for plane crossover and arithmetic crossover method is used for profile crossover. Evaluating indicators of projects are inputted into multiobjective decision system after crossover and mutation and the best project can be found after comparing.In this paper, the author's method makes a useful attempt in the optimization of plane and profile design. The method is of some theoretical meaning and the value of practical applications.
