Transformer substation is very important in power transmission and transformation system. The trend of today's transformer substation is great capacity, ultrahigh voltage and long-distance range. These characteristics have brought a series of new topics for the fault analysis of power system. The faults of transformer substation become more complicated, which require high performance fault analysis system to analyze power system faults.Based on the analysis of power system faults, various fault analysis methods are researched in this paper in detail. According to the system's insufficiency and practical requirement, some fault analysis algorithms which process fault data are programmed to analyze the faults of 110kV transformer substation and transmission line. This paper provides the realization of symmetrical components and harmonic analysis. Aperiodic component is resolved in fault situation. Simultaneity, some present algorithms about fault phase selection are discussed in the dissertation, modal transformation based on fault component is better than others in performing fault phase selection. This paper also presents a fault location algorithm based on doing research on many algorithms. At the end of this paper, through setting up the fault simulation models, all the results of simulation show that the traits of both algorithms are briefness, stable performance and high precision, they are not affected by the type of fault and transition resistance, it has provided the basic theory for the achievement of fault analysis system. The last, the main research works in this thesis are summarized and further studies are suggested.
