Power factor and voltage lowering of distribution network would lead electrical equipments to be applied at a insufficient state, and make network trans mission ability decreasing, the line loss increasing.It is sinificant to solve distribution network reactive power compensation better for security, loss-down and energy-save of electrical network.Based on reactive power balance and harmonic theory studying, experiencing distribution operating for years, the low voltage automatic reactive compensation device had been developed and put into commissioning. this device include low voltage capacitors and series reactors as main compensation components. A 89c52 sigle-chip processor and ATT7022B WAS developed as a intelligent controllor and used for the switching control in this device. The operation principle of the device was based on the reactive power balance located.The paper's author was responsible for the theory studying and the controllor developing. this device developing was in reward for GuiZhou province's science-technology progress 3rd grade, and GuiZhou power company science-technology developing 3rd grade of 2002.Since 2003, the device was been marketing and acquired a big order. the landmark use was on the <10kV GUI-CHI Line Lowering loss Project>during 2004-2005. In 2.3 Km Line, there were 23 device installation points for transformers. Acording to calculation and measurment, the line average power factor was from 0.87 up to 0.98, the line loss rate was down by 15%. Low voltage reactive power compensation located can be used as a important technical reactive power loss-down method, the experience previous mentioned is the best practical chance.
