Refractive index is one of the most important physical properties of material. So refractometer plays more and more important role and now it is widely applied in agriculture and industry. On the basis of the relative research, this thesis analyzes the detection method based on Digital Optoelectronic system. Then design a new optical system that can efficiently improve the measurement accuracy. The designing and experiment of the instruments that includes the new optical system, the CCD image sensor UPD3570D and the microcontroller MSP430FE427 are also expounded.This thesis analyzes the optical structure of the traditional Digital Optoelectronic system, and simulates the light intensity on the receiving surface. In order to improve the range and the sensitivity, a new optical system is designed, which uses the alternation of three light sources to adjust the position of the critical points. Because of MSP430's powerful processing capacity and low power, it can be used in the new Digital Optoelectronic system. The peak holding circuit can collect the signal and make a judgment. It makes the whole circuits more simple and efficient. The temperature has a big effect so the results must be corrected. The final results should be changed into Brix using curve fitting.Overall, in applying the reflection theory, this thesis presents the scheme that using the new optical system to improve the range and the sensitivity.
