The tourism toilet this thesis discussed refers to those public toilets located in the scenic spots of Yunnan province. Our culture attaches much more importance to eating than excreting all through the ages. We are hold back from telling about toilet culture, which is under cover of the diet culture we have a world-wide reputation for. Our country is a great power with a long civilization history of 5000 years. However, if we turn a blind eye to the toilet problem with traditional prejudice, the splendid history is not able to screen from her lose in the civilization of the modern times. Coupled with the realism that our toilets are dirty, disorder, poor in conditions and small in amount, the toilet problems have become an important fact that restrict the normal course of our society and economy. These problems also do harm to the normal development of the tourist industry. A lot of foreign visitors are scared of the toilets in China for the internal poor conditions can not in step with the external advanced ones. Yunnan has enjoyed a good reputation for its natural, cultural and historical sceneries, the more important that the tourist industry is the pillar one. However, the overall conditions of the tourism toilets are not very ideal, which has become the obstacle in the way for further development.The strategies and methods in the design of the tourism toilets in Yunnan mainly contain two close interrelated levels, the macroscopic certainty and the microscopic exploration. First of all, as an antecedent, the course of history in the development of toilet and in which our public decency and custom are formed. Then the conclusion is made out that the developmental history of toilet is another human civilization development history. Secondly, the present public toilet questions are analyzed from all sides. Such as the classification, function, attributes, problems and the revolution about the public toilet, and the definition, classification and the actual state about the tourism toilet. Thirdly,with an in-depth survey and study on the actual state of the tourism toilets about the construction and management, the actual state is not very ideal and needs to be improved. At the same time, the related comments and proposals about the management and usage in the future are brought out. Finally, the design strategies which include the scientific strategy, the ecological strategy and the humanism strategy of the Yunnan tourism toilet are brought up, which point out an only road for the design of the tourism toilet to success. The scientific strategy which contains rational and technological principles is an overall one. The ecological strategy is the basic claims of constructing intensive society, which should foster the thought that it develops with the nature, the economy and the society harmoniously. The human-oriented design is the eternal theme of the design, which should pay more attention to the actual needs of the disabled, elders, women and children. Under the instruction of the three strategies, the design methods contain the scientific method, such as the planning design, the architectural design and the assignment of the facilities, the ecological method, such as the ventilation design, the daylight design, the lighting design and the felicitous usage of the ecological technology, the humanism method, such as the free of obstacles design and the guide design. Strategy and method, macroscopic and microscopic composite the overall aspects of the tourism toilet design in Yunnan.Throughout the study on this subject, this thesis brings out the feasible design strategies and methods of Yunnan tourism toilet, in order to inject a reasonable, healthy and rapid progress of Yunnan tourist industry.
