With the development of the computer technology and the information system, it is more and more important for many enterprises to construct the enterprise database to promote its informatization and enhance its management level.This is a researching project coming from Sichuan Research Institute of Material and Technology. There are two purposes in this project. The first one is, according to the requirement from the product line, providing a set of scheme to realize product material management and monitoring. Another one is introducing the modern concepts and measurements of enterprise resources management to the research institute, which can promote management to a higher level. At the same time, it can increase the security of material information.According to practical requirements, we did a comprehensive analysis including architecture of network and its distribution, software requirements, etc. We constructed database models through PowerDesigner software, optimized its construction and relationship, created stored procedures and views. We designed framework of the software system after finishing requirement analysis. Bugs and logic faults were corrected when its development was finished. Considering security of the system, we analyzed MD5 algorithm and applied in encrypting important data. Fiber network communication technology was adopted in the system and informatization technology was used to manage the material information and data scientifically and efficiently.Plant material management and process monitoring system was developed under Mircrosoft Visual C++ platform. It used Client/Server architecture and selected SQL Server 2000 as its database. It provided an effective scheme for the research institute to solve current problems. The system passed software evaluation of correlative superior department. Its reliability, security, stability, error-tolerance, operability, criterion of documents and codes had achieved profession software standard. The system had run on the production line now, and its rationality had been admitted by users.
