Today, so many design styles can be well adapted to different kinds of tastes and needs of people. Chinese landscape shapes should reflect more contemporary Chinese characteristics and connotations. But as a matter of fact, lots of landscape projects are machine-made, ponderous and lack of attractiveness, although we have more choices in the landscape shapes. Chinese contemporary landscape designers seem confused or even somehow lost when facing our excellent traditions of Chinese garden building and so many design styles and genres from the West. They also don't know how to make choices and to explain to their choices. The lack of"design language"in Chinese contemporary landscape has been existing for a long time, as a result of lack of deep research on landscape shapes.The article is trying to dig out more design elements, which can bring us inspiration, revelation and originality, by introducing a group of concepts into landscape design field such as concretization, abstract, imago and artistic conception. These concepts are not strange to literature or to some other arts. In addition, analysis and comparisons are being made on many cases at home and abroad, based on the theories of philosophy, aesthetics, psychics, morphology and bionomics. The article starts with"shape", explicates its spirit behind, makes the artistry, connotation and communication of landscape shape as research aim, and attempts to analyze the Utopian contemporary landscape shape in China and to offer more design methods from a brand-new view. It also brings forward some design methods of making attractive and meaningful landscape, which can communicate with people's heart.
