According to the requirement of new type Naval ships. SEARI took the project of "the developing and manufacturing of intelligent minitype circuit breaker". This paper is mainly about the key technology of new type quenching arc chamber. It is based on the DW45 series circuit breaker, and then redesigned to satisfy the request of ship-using. The basic requirement of the new type quenching arc chamber is: through the researching of the frame circuit breaker, improving measures should be provided to make the frame circuit breaker rated 1000A achieve the fault current break capacity of 100KA.This paper is divided into 5 chapters, first, a brief introduction is presented about the function, composing, classification and basic requirement for quenching arc chamber of the frame circuit breaker. Then analyzing of the theory of AC arcing is made. Through the researching of the construction of frame circuit breaker in existence. We provided the improving methods which satisfied the requirement of ship-using frame circuit breaker. Based on this, we studied the progress of arc moving. Also , at last, testing is carried out in our research.The main research work of this paper is:1. researching the theory of arc.2. researching the construction of frame circuit breaker in existence. Analyzing the advantage and disadvantage of each kind of frame circuit breaker. Then Provided the improving methods which satisfied the requirement of ship-using frame circuit breaker.3. testing under different circumstances of fault current is made to testify the performance of new type quenching arc chamber.4. A engineering sample is manufactured, and finally achieved the fault current break capacity of 100KA.This paper researches the arc theory of breaking process of fault current and structure of quenching arc chamber of the existing frame circuit breaker, and analyzes the number and structure of DW45-2000 frame circuit breaker deionization plate, application of producing-gas material and the experimental project of current moving process when breaking fault current.
