Brushless DC Motor is a new type motor which is developed on base of DC Motor with the advancement of the power electronics, motor control technology and microprocessor. Because this type of motor not only has the merit of the AC induction motor of simple structure, reliable operation and easy upholding but also has the merit of the DC Motor with high performance and easy control. The research and application of brushless DC motor has draw lots of attention of the researchers in this field in recent years.A good controller is crucial to speed control of brushless DC motor, so it is important for brushless DC motor to find out a good control method. PID control is one of the earliest control methods, which is widely used in the process of industrial control. Because good control effect cannot be acquired by using the traditional PID controller in the non-linear variable time servomechanism, so a kind of PID controller based on neural network is proposed. This design regards brushless DC Motor as a control object. By analyzing mathematics model of brushless DC motor, the design of related neural network PID control system based on BP neural network is provided.Besides, to brushless DC motor, the prediction of motor's properties is affected by some parameters, such as back electromotive force, etc. The theory of electromagnetic field and the method of finite elements are used in precise calculation of back electromotive force in the traditional design of brushless DC motor. Because of the complexity and the demand for much time, it is unpractical to use the method in actual optimization design. The contradiction between precision and quantity in calculation can be resolved effectively by using artificial neural network.
