Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) has may merits such as working in low temperature, being convenient to maintain, low-noise when operated and able to realize no exhaust. These advantages make it nowadays the most widely studied and fastest developed in fuel cell research. In order to provide fundamental and reasonable principle for designing, optimizing and controlling fuel cell, modeling and simulating PEMFC have be conducted by simulating, and then PFMFC system (including electric power electron converter and its control system) has been resolved in model and simulation and analysis of performance.This paper, in the view of system, laying the foundation on the analysis of function and characteristic of every part of PEMFC and Boost converter, surveys the PEMFC and Boost converter as a whole. It puts the emphasis on the relationship between the input as pressure, temperature, etc, output of physical variables and influence factor to the Boost converter model. In simulation, this paper makes use of the most popular scientific software, MATLAB, and develops the corresponding simulating system with the SIMULINK in it.This paper firstly gives a brief overview of the operating principle of the fuel cell, function and characteristic of each important element, and based on it, a general introduction to mathematical model study of PEMFC. and then taking the whole fuel cell unit as a subject, builds up the PEMFC unit empirical model, combining certain thermodynamic theory as mass transfer, diathermancy, etc. In addition, the experimental parameters are defined according to the known data.Actually, this paper makes the base on the Amphlett model of PEMFC, and then makes the simulating model set up on the foundation of the empirical modelmentioned above by using the SIMULINK software package in MATLAB and simulating is conducted in PEMFC. the result compared well with the published one. During the study of PEMFC, this paper also lays special emphsis to analyze the influence of PEMFC working temperature, input reaction gas from anode and cathod on characteristic of PEMFC, and we make some necessary and early study combining with the boost converter, which makes the dircetion in the study of the correct work between PEMFC and Boost...
