Nowadays, study of bridge structure damage evaluation and optimal design gradually become the focus in the field of bridge, especially the problem of constructing inverse analysis theory for bridge structure is proposed. In this paper, based on previous study result, the theoretical frame of inverse analysis and optimal design for bridge structure is constructed by using finite element model, the theory of system identification and the optimal method of trust region algorithm. Then the system of inverse analysis and optimal design for bridge structure is elementarily established by secondary programme development, which is opening and can satisfy all kinds of engineering demands. On the one hand, the system is successfully applied in damage detection of continuous girder bridge's dynamic behavior by correcting damage distributed curve of whole span length. Bridge structure damage detection is being made and the systemic research on the method is used in parameter identification for bridge structure. On the other hand, the system is successfully applied in cable tension's optimal design for reasonable dead state of cable-stayed bridge. The middling span of cable-stayed bridge is actively discussed whether the combination effect of live load or the nonlinear effect of structure is considered, and the project of cable tension's optimal design is finally selected for reasonable dead state of cable-stayed bridge. At last, for trust region optimum algorithm applying in the theory of inverse analysis and optimal design for bridge structural, some meaning conclusion is get.The main research is as follows:1. The method of optimal analysis, which is applied in bridge structure, is reviewed and summarized. Its merit and limitation are briefly discussed in application.2. The basic theory of inverse analysis and optimal design for bridge structure is demonstrated, and the realizing step is constructed. The system of inverse analysis and optimal design for bridge structure is elementarily established by secondary programme development, which adequately uses functional modules of ANSYS and MATLAB.3. The basic theory and the realizing step of damage detection for continuous girder bridge by dynamic behavior is stated; the system of inverse analysis and optimal design for bridge structure is applied in a simulative numerical example of continuous girder bridge.
