Sediment motion induced by waves is a fundamental problem in the dynamics of estuary and the coastal zone. Although lots of works have been done, the law of the course hasn't been found out clearly because the interactions between solid and fluid are extremely complex, and the data is difficult to obtain from fields and laboratories. Moreover scholars have studied it from different approaches, through which we can get different results to the same problem. It is very important to make a comparison among the existed models and find out the best one, which is the origin of this article, and it is very meaningful.Nowadays the scientific problems get more and more complex, so it becomes more and more important and necessary for the application of unconventional tools in the sediment research. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is such a tool, through which we can excavate potential law of the datum by direct analysis of them.Based on the comparison result of the existed models, this article set up a BP ANN model to predict the critical parameters in the course of sediment motion induced by waves, it is a new path to research it and can provide the tool and consult for work in the future.
