Moving objection detection without human intereference have become a problem attracting more and more attention in intelligent transportation. It relates to computer vision, the collection of information and the operation of video-frequency image. Aimed at the problems that how to detect, indentity and track moving vehicles, a series of exploratory researches done in this paper are as follows :An algorithm based on two consecutive frames subtraction and Background subtraction is presented. At first, subtracted two consecutive frames to find out moving area and background area. Then, moving area was subtracted with background area. Because the area dealt with was only moving area. The results showed that this algorithm combines the advantages of veracity and of runtime, and fit for real time detection.Aimed at the problem that how to attain background frame in complex condition, a new method to acquire background was presented . Two consecutive frames were subtracted to pick up background pixel in this method, so, the Gaussian model of every pixel was built. The cleanly background was attained quickly, because the moving object in frame did not affect the process of attaining.Aimed at the difficulty of license plate location, this paper presents an effective license plate location algorithm based on HSV color model. At first, the algorithm calculates the similarity a row in the color image. Then, make use of similarity threshold and the information about the position and proportion of license plate. At last, we can divide license plate correctly. The algorithm has fewer limits to the change of light, the color of car and license plate. It has the advantages of veracity and speediness.Considering moving distance and area change of one vehicles in the two consecutive frames is small, the author presented an algorithm tracking moving vehicles . Two parameters, centroid and area of moving vehicles, were used to match in the method. Because only two parameters were used and the datum was small, the moving vehicles in the frame were tracked and located the position quickly.
