In this paper , In order to study expansive soil's shear strength and suction strength change rules as its water content changes, normal straight shear testing and triaxial testing study of expansive soils of shaanxi was carried . And the relationships between shear strength index and water content (saturation) are presented as well as the relationship between suction strength and water content (saturation). By statistics analysis means , expansive soil's basic soil texture index's variability and how water content affects expansive soil's shear strength index's variability are analyzed . The paper draws some conclusions as follows : expansive soil strength closely links with its water content , strength decreases as water increases ; Linear relationships existbetween the logarithm of expansive soil strength index (c φ) and water content aswell as suction strength and water content; the influence between water content and cohesion is greater than that of water content and angle of friction ; The peak value strength and remains strength of the expansive soil are affected by the change of water content, expansive soil has a stable state strength when it soaks water; expansive soil physical index's variability less than expand and shrink characteristic index ; the variability of expansive soil shear strength index is strongly affected by water content, and the effect between water content and cohesion (c) greater than that of watercontent and angle of friction (φ). The results can provide the theoretic value and practical value for engineering design and stability analysis of expansive soil. |
