Container Crane is a large scale port machinery for container loading and unloading. Following the development of container carrying trade constantly, the design and manufacture of container crane are expected to be a higher level.Applying CAD/CAE integrated technology to design of large scale port machinery, we can improve the quality and efficiency of design work evidently. By thinking over structure trait of large scale port machinery, a practicable technique for applying CAD/CAE integrated system to design of large scale port machinery is put forward for the first time in this paper. The main researches of the dissertation are as follows:1. Build geometry solid model of main structure of one container crane and use it as the prototype. This is essence work for parameterized design of container crane. When design a new crane, system will drive prototype model by use the new inputed dimensions and will create a solid model which accord with designer' demand.2. Build finite element model of main structure of container crane for finite element analyse.3. Find a solution to.use dimension to drive solid model in this system.this is the key procedure to create solid model automatically when system get structure data.4. Find a solution to convert solid model into finite element model and update model synchronize. Utilize some dimensions in solid model which be built in PRO/ENGINEER to create finite element model in ANSYS. This means that to transfer data from PRO/ENGINEER to ANSYS is realized.As an example of container crane in this dissertation.research key technology and its realizing method about CAD/CAE integrated technology of large scale port machinery.a new concept of CAD/CAE integrated design is provided , and solve some key problem of the course in realizing the thought, besides.developing a detail program to accomplish this concept.which makes a firm foundation for practical application in future.
