| On-board computer is a crucial module on satellite which acquires, manages,transmits and stores data. It is a data processing platform integrating information andfunctions for high density and complicated satellite's integrated electronics system.Due to the increasing complexity of space projects, great deals of information needto be processed autonomously on satellite. This calls for high performance of theon-board computer, especially the data processing ability.Researching and designing of on-board computer based on high performancedomestic CPU will not only meet the increasing need of space projects, but also hasgreat significance for guaranteeing the safety and improving the reliability ofon-board computer, for breaking the blockage of high performance equipmentsoverseas, and for the independent development of on-board computer technology ofour country.The domestic CPU used in this project is fully compatible with Freescale'sMPC603e. Its performance can reach 133 MIPS and is one of the highest in thedomestic CPUs that can be used in aerospace. This paper traced the designingphilosophy of advanced on-board computers in the world and designed a highperformance computer module based on the domestic CPU according to therequirement of our country's aerospace missions. This computer is uncomplicatedand its interface can be configured flexibly. The ROTS VxWorks which has highperformance and reliability is used as the software platform. Thereby, the applicationsoftware can be developed and maintained conveniently.The design philosophy, difficulty points and solutions of this computer arediscussed in this paper. The details include component selection, schematic design,PCB layout, design of memory controller, hardware debug, VxWorks migration andperformance comparison between domestic CPU and its compatible CPU. In addition,this paper attempts to discuss the performance-price ratio problem due to the differentconfiguration of computer system. The method to improve this computer is presentedat the end of this paper.The prototype developed by this paper uses domestic high performance CPU.Its enhancer can provide powerful data processing ability for our country's presentand future large space missions. It has great perspective in the field like mannedspace mission and deep space exploration. |
