It has more than one hundred years since the first diesel engine came to the world in 1897. With the ceaseless development of the advanced technology, the diesel engine has been widely used in oil well, power generating electricity, all sorts of shipping powers and vehicle powers and so on, and its working state has a direct infection to the working efficiency of the whole machine. So it is very necessary to monitor its condition and diagnosis its failures in order to ensure the system in best station and to improve its work efficiency and quality of maintaining machine.Using transient speed information has become one of the hotspots in failure recognition of diesel engine recently because the transient speed information can offer a lot of information about work performance of every cylinder, and can be detected by using no disassembly method. On the analysis of theory of transient speed fluctuation, the data of it has been collected by magnetoelectricity sensor and is used to get the speed fluctuation diagram after filtering and to analyzed the work equality of very cylinder with the fuzzy pattern recognition method.Oil spray system is the heart in the whole engine, which affects the efficiency of diesel engine directly and determines the performance of diesel, so it is important to detect and diagnose it in time. In this paper, a new fault diagnosis method , fuzzy pattern recognition , is brought forward to diagnose the diesel system and has a good effect, where diesel engine's fuel pressure wave shape is measured using sensor and is distilled its characters.This system is composed of computer and singlechip and uses VB6.0, the tool of H-programmed language and uses RS232 which is supplied by VB for serial communication between PC and singlechip. Beside the work equality of every cylinder and diesel system, this system also detects and diagnoses out-character and compress equality. Its Characteristic and innovation as follows:· It uses the solid state collection method.· This svstem uses no disassembly method to check-up the diesel engine.? The transient speed signal is filtered by using FIR low-pass filter and choosing the window function of Hanning, distilled its characters which can be used to diagnose the work equality of every cylinder.? Character-Distilled theory and fuzzy pattern recognition method are used in fault diagnosis of diesel engine's fuel pressure wave shape , which have high veracity and easily realization by H-programmed language.
