Along with the development of marine fishing and shipping, we should improve functions of the energy saving and environmental protection of shipping refrigeration equipment. According to the refrigeration needs for freshness keeping in fishing ships, we have developed a Sorption Cooling System Equipment using ships' tail-gas. This equipment use the unwanted (extra) heat in the diesel engine to heat sorbent on the sorption bed, then the desorption appears in refrigeration material (adsorption material)of the sorbent, the attached steam of the sorbent coagulates in condenser, the cooled sorbent resumes absorption. Its sorption makes the liquid refrigeration material in the evaporator vaporizing and realizing the cooling effects. Therefore, this system efficiently utilizes the low quality heat energy to save lots of energy. Its also applies the harmless sorbent as refrigeration material to avoid the greenhouse effect and avoid destroying ozonosphere caused by conventional cooling methods. So it is accordant with the policies of environmental protection.According to the thermal load of fresh keeping and cooling in fishing ship Z6170 and extra heat calculation of diesel engine's tail gas, we have designed Adsorption Cooling System with two beds. During the design, in order to improve the efficiency of heat exchange and cooling of the system, reduce the size of the equipment, we firstly applied adsorption tubes with internal and external fans and device changing the direction of diesel engine's tail gas with automatic electro-motion panel valve with three electromotor heads. We applied Panel Heat Exchanger with higher heat exchange efficiency and smaller size in condenser and evaporator and other heat exchange parts. We have established a laboratorial platform to simulate practical situation of tail-gas. We did the research and improved the design in key parts of the system, such as sorption of single pipe of the sorption bed and desorption. We firstly installed Sorption Cooling System into DC808B fishing ship in China. We also followed the fishing ships to test practical functions of our equipment. Through experiments, Sorption Cooling System meets the practical needs for shipping cooling.The functions inspection in Tail-gas & Absorption Cooling System for practical usage is an effective experiment for the cooling system to widely use in shipping refrigeration system.
