The piston ring -cylinder is working under the bad environment. Because of the action of the high temperature and high pressure and the bad lubrication, the top stop point is difficult to sustain the lubrication film continuing at the top of piston ring. Actually, piston ring is working under the state of boundary lubrication and the half dry friction. So the friction and the abrasion of the piston ring-cylinder are fairly prominent and complicated, especially at the top stop point district where the piston' s velocity is zero.Tribology is a theory and practice science, which studies the action between the relative motion interactive surfaces friction and the mechanical system. Its basic context is about the problem of friction, abrasion and lubrication. The friction is an ordinary phenomenon. It' s statistic that energy sources are consumed in the final form of friction consumption in the present world. The abrasion on the friction is a main reason for the machine invalidation. It costs much finance and power to repair or replace the mangle parts for the friction. The loss is much more surprising for maintenance or stop working on the account of invalidation for the modern big enterprise. If the knowledge and technology of tribology can be made full use of and the machine is designed and utilized rationally, the expense is reduced largely in enhancing the machine performance, deceasing energy consumption, prolonging utilization life, reducing maintenance, and avoiding invalidation accident. So it is considered internationally that the product will lose the market competition without tribology design.The piston-link machine is a main part in the gas engine. Researching its motion law, the force can be calculated. These forces directly influence the gas engines power, economy, security and utilization life. That knowledge is not only important for the designer, but also indispensable for the maintenance. This paper analyzes the kinematics and kinetics of the piston ring-cylinder. Through the kinematics analysis, establish the relationship among the displacement, velocity, and acceleration. Then making use of acceleration to analyze kinetics, find the factors that bring oscillation, run unbalance and additive load. It offers the basic theory for the latter test device design.The cylinder is hold by the four sensors, so the friction between the piston ringand cylinder is transmitted to the sensors entirely, without the influence of the inertia force. Sampling the force according to principal axis corner, so the force can be corresponding with the cylinders piston, and it can be studied in a cycle. Adopting spring load device for continuing to load, find the ultimate load that the piston ring be endured.Finally, crossed test is taken in the different circumstances (such as principal axis' s rotate speed, load, lubrication, and materials), summarizing the basic law of the piston ring-cylinder friction and abrasion to provide the valuable references for the enterprise.
