The exhaust emission is lower when the engine burns with the liquefied petroleum gas(LPG).But it still lacks systematic and deep research moreover.Adopting the technical method which the theory and the experiment unify, the authoranalyzed and researched systematically the emission performance of the electronic controlgasoline engine which burned the LPG as following:(1) Theoretical analysis: according to the theory of combustion and exhaust, thesuperiority of LPG engine attributes to certain physical and chemic characteristics of LPG.(2)Experimental test: First, the engine of SANTANA 2,000 AJR was refitted the dualfuel engine which burned the gasoline or LPG. Second, based on this experimentalplatform, the dropping scope and rule of harmful exhaust gas were researched. From thisexperiment, we came to conclusion that the densities of HC, CO, NO_X of LPG engine arelower than the gasoline engine in the corresponding loads. The biggest dropping scope is inturn: 64.9%, 94.8% and 59.6%; meanwhile, according to the exhaust ingredient wecalculated the air-fuel ratio with VB language. This can offer technical support forcalculating excess air ratio with different component fuel.(3) Technical exploration: The author researched further the ways to reduce theexhaust emission. By analyzing purified method in engine, It is controlling the air fuel ratioand adjusting combustion that are the effective ways and the essential measures to controlthe exhaust; Through researching the effect of the exhaust after installing the rare earththree-way catalytic converter, it can be concluded that purified effect of the engine withrare earth three-way catalytic converter is better than the engine with the LPG.Some important data, the correlative conclusion and the technical method in thepaper can be used to carry on the optimized design for the liquefied petroleum gas engine.They also can provide the scientific basis and practical experience for taping the sole fuelengine.
