Regional Portals Space Form

As the junction of two region space, the chief function of the region-entrance is to meet the needs of passing through. If the design of region-entrance is successful or not will have a direct impact on the whole region image, as well as the quality of city space environment.This thesis reviews the historical and current state of region-entrance space. With analysis and introduction on the structure of entrance space form aspects of building function, environment and human being, explorations and study are made on how to create a fine entrance space of region.The first part expounds the purpose and significance of the research and defines concerned concepts, and building up the infrastructure of researching object.The second part reviews the development and present situation of entrance space and points out that the function problem, the problem of expressing meaning, ignoring of people sensation, stylized form design are the main problems.Based on much material, the third part analyzes the function, environment and human being and the attribute and the structure of entrance space.the fourth part make exploration on design of entrance space and believes that design should start from a overall view, with expressing several meanings, respecting human being needs, controlling space environment atmosphere, all these are expected to be of some positive and practical significance in raising the grade of architectural creation and contribute to the construction of cities in our country.In the end, the last part sums up the opinions mentioned above.
