Tourmaline and piezoelectric quartz release negative ions as the temperature and pressure changing due to their pyroelectricity and piezoelectricity. Tourmaline and piezoelectric quartz as negative ion resources are widely used in air cleaning, water treatment, electromagnetic radiation protection, building material friendly to environment, painting, cosmetic, healthcare fiber and dressing etc. relating to our lives at present. The present research will focus on the fabrication of fine particles of tourmaline and piezoelectric quartz and their water treatment application. The preparation of fine particle of Tourmaline and quartz is crucial for the study of their effects and application in textiles. It will speed up the development of negation ion product and enlarge the field of application.The fine particle was prepared using ball milling method in various conditions. Then they reacted with water in different conditions. The fine particles and the mechanism of reaction have been investigated by using Scanning Electronic Microscopy (SEM), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Infrared Spectroscopic Analysis (IR), and particle distribution analyzer etc. It has been systematically studied that the effects of time, the particle concentration, grinding aid and dispersant and different ways in dryness on the grain diameters of Tourmaline and quartz. The influences of concentration of fine powers, pH, grain particle, temperature and press on pH and conductivity of solution when Tourmaline and quartz react with acid or alkali and the absorption of Cu~2+ have also been investigated respectively. In addition, the impacts of configuration discrepancy of Tourmaline from different producing areas on processing of reaction and dissolve oxygen capacity have been studied at length. The conclusions are showed as follows.1. The particle diameter reduces as the grinding time increasing. Counter-grinding phenomenon appears on the grinding process when the time is sufficient long. Triethanolamine is preferable to control the grinding equilibrium. There are differences in mechanism between inorganic dispersant and organic dispersant. Sodium pyrophosphate is a perfect dispersant for the dispersion of the piezoelectric quartz crystal powders, and pH is the important factor to disperse effect. Ethanol displacement method is good for quartz in dryness; however, freeze is a good choice for dryness of Tourmaline.2. Tourmaline has pyroelectricity and piezoelectricity. The piezoelectricity of quartz is superior to Tourmaline. The changing range of pH and conductivity turns larger as the relative addition of particle concentration in some extent. There is linear relation between initial pH and reaction rate. The smaller particle diameter and the higher temperature, the larger change of pH and conductivity are. The influence of particle diameter on pH and conductivity in acid is more severe than in alkali by Tourmaline and quartz. Tourmaline absorbs Cu2+ ions; however, scarcely absorption in quartz.3. Tourmaline from Mongolia has perfect effect than that from Sin kiang andHebei province on pH and conductivity in acid; however, Tourmaline from Hebei province is better than the others in alkali. There are approximately linear relations between oxygen element content in Tourmaline with dissolve oxygen capacity in solution after reaction.
