Transmission Grid GIS-based Production Management System Development And Implementation

According to the statistic, eighty-five percent of information systems are related to the geographic information. The Geographic Information System (GIS) is one of the hottest technology in software industry in recent years.This paper raises to design the management information system for power transmission network based on GIS. Combining with the research project and the tide on GIS domain, author brings forward some personal view on how to design and to implement GIS in power transmission network with his experience on GIS.The main topic of this paper is geographic information integration and other related technology. It emphatically disusses and analyses the space data and its mode.This paper consists of three parts. The first part explains the background to bring forward GIS in power transmission network. The second part introduces the conceptions and applications of GIS and GE Smallworld. The last part discusses the applications of GIS in electric power system and the background project -GIS in power transmission network.
