Research, Traffic Monitoring System Based On Video Images

Video technology is applied in traffic surveillance system more and more with the development of digital image technology. A video surveillance system for real-time traffic surveillance is designed to acquire the state of road network and present the global traffic control information in the paper.The image acquisition and manipulation system is composed of the core processor DSPs and the high speed chips. In order to deal with the problem of large data of image and real-time processing, the technology of FIFO buffer. EDMA data transfer and so on are adopted in the hardware design, and all of the design and debugging for hardware is presented in the paper. In the side of software, the works include not only the programs which driver hardware but also the simulations which prove the self-adapting background updating algorithm is effective to acquire the number of the vehicles, then the software and hardware optimization are presented considering the hardware structure. In the last the algorithm above is transplanted in the DSPs system.
