Tripod is essential components in machine gun system. How to reduce the weight of tripod and keep shooting precision is a difficult problem in designing of machine gun system. Applying modern advanced composite in designing and manufacturing of machine gun is a good method to solve this problem.In this paper, dynamic characteristic of machine gun system with composite tripod was analyzed. On the base of composite mechanics, composite structure mechanics, system dynamics and FEA, the parameter model was established, system dynamic characteristic subjected to suddenly applied loading was obtained. Nature characteristic of tripod was also analyzed. According to analyzing different size of section and material parameters, this paper presents some schemes that are feasible in theory.Results indicate that composite tripod can reduce the weight of machine gun system and improve the fight characteristics. Analysis method and results in this paper can be used in machine gun design.
