This paper brings forward three projects for smoke emission of diesel engine: adopt compound fuels of ethanol and diesel oil; adjust technology parameter of diesel engine; apply aftertreatment of diesel engine and other new technology.The results of experiments shows that diesel engine can reduce smoke emission effectively, increase thermal efficiency when small-proportion compound fuels are used. And with the proportion of ethanol being increased, smoke emission is better obviously. By adjusting the parameters of fuel injection system and engine induction system and comparing smoke emission, smoke emission is clearly influenced by the parameters. So it is very important to maintain the diesel engine. Particulate trap's regeneration is important influential factor for aftertreatment of diesel engine and only carrying out the optimization of regeneration occasion can achieve the best regeneration result. Electronic-controlled fuel injection system of diesel engine can realize accurate control and reduce smoke emission obviously, so it is one of the most important prospects of diesel engine.
