The JiJiahe coast, locates on the south of K105+780-K106+410 of Luoyang-Sanmenxia section of Huoerguosi national highway, consists of three coasts. The No.l coast, the largest of the three coasts, with volume of 106 m3. The highway passes through with the deep-excavated high slope of 14m high. The environment the coast used to exists have been changed which will endanger the safety of operation and construction.The paper , firstly, descript the background of the JiJiahe coast. Some effort have been made on sliding history, sliding trace and the characteristics of the coast, and some specific sliding mechanism and type have been confirmed. Based on laboratory test results, the soil index for stability assessment have been summarized. The two physical sliding models, circles sliding model and two line model have been established based on the research on coasts. The stability of the coasts have been evaluated with Sarma method, Force method, Bishop method, Fellenius method and Janbu method under two service states of natural state and natural state with a seismic acceleration of O.lg respectively. The assessment results shown that the JiJiahe coast will be in the state of instability or limit equilibrium state; in the case of seismic acceleration of O.lg, will be hi the state of instability. Therefore, the remediation measures will be necessary to stabilize the coast. The paper analysis the measures which have been used to remediate the coasts all over the world, based on the geological features, an excavated measures have been chosen to remediate the slope to ensure the safety of construction and operation. An extensive investigation have been carried out on slope protection measures, the three dimensional vegetation such as carpet grassing, shot grassing and transplant grass have been proposed to protect the slope.Use numerical methods such as Sarma method , Force method, Bishop method, Fellenius method and Janbu method hi the assessment of slope stability of the Luoyang-Sanmenxia highway, The integrate remediation measures, have been proposed based on the calculation, analysis comparison it is feasible in technique and beneficial hi economy. Propose the advanced technology such as three dimensional vegetation of grassing, shot grass seed and transplant earth and seed to highway construction, it can help the development of ecological highway in China.The operation history shown that the measure is suitable to the project.
