Series capacitor compensation technology has been widely used in electric power system because it can increase transmission capability, decrease transmission consumption, restrict the short-circuit capability, and so improve the power system's operating economy and reliability. But at the same time, many problems have been brought to existing transmission line relaying protection by the capacitor.Based on the analyzing of the principles and characteristics of RCS-900 series protection devices, the influence of series capacitor on each component of RCS-900 series protection devices-traditional distance relay, incremental power frequency distance relay, incremental power frequency directional relay and zero sequence relay was studied. And schemes, which have been verified by dynamic physical model, were presented to solve the problems. |
