The study in the thesis focuses on the wear of bush seals in industry. It brings out a kind of simplified three-dimensional model in the contact analysis. Then combined with ANSYS software, the contact of brush seal is analyzed wholly, and the longevity's equation of seals is derived from the calculation. From the analytic results, we can get the longevity related to parameters.The thesis mainly contains:We analyze the brush seal's structure. Based on the reasonable assumption, a new three-dimensional FEA (Finite Element Analysis) model is put forward in contact pressure calculation of brush seals.With the understanding of the brush seal's dynamics, contact pressure in the bristles' unbounded ending is worked out with the FEA three-dimensional model in ANSYS. Results are presented showing the influence of original interference between bristles and shaft, differential pressure, bristles' rows and slope on the contact pressure. The contact pressure can be calculated by BP arithmetic of nerve net on MATLAB successfully.Based on brush seals wear theory and the given solid wear equation, the wear and longevity equation of brush seal are set up. And the results are given in different conditions.In my thesis, the three-dimensional FEA model can be used to analyze the contact, while the wear longevity equation is used to calculate the longevity. To some extent, the calculation, analysis and results are helpful to the brush seal design and engineering application. These can help the future research in theory and application of brush seals.
