At present, an advanced retrofit measure using stainless steel wire mesh and penetrative polymer mortar has emerged as an alternative to traditional strengthening method. Because of steel wire's high strength, mortar's excellent adhesion performance and simply procedure of construction, it will be widely used in strengthening field.Methods and performances of column retrofit using stainless steel wire mesh and penetrative polymer mortar are studied in this paper through pseudo-static companion test. Three-group column specimens are designed .In each group, one specimen in the group is retrofitted and the other is not. During each test, make the axial load constant and apply the lateral cyclic load to the top of the column through the horizontal actuator. After the test, the hysteresis curves (lateral force versus column total displacement) and the distribution of strain are recorded.The test results show that this retrofit technique confines the reinforced concrete section effectively. So the strength, the ductility and energy dissipation capacity is increased differently. At the same time, the limit value of the ratio of axial compression stress to strength is reduced. The retrofitted columns have the better aseismic performance than the unretrofitted and satisfy the practice projects. It will have the excellent effect in the strengthening field.In this paper, the formulas calculating the bending capacity of cross section of the retrofitted columns are attained through the test data analysis. Synchronously, some design advices about the beam-column joint and construction are put forward.
