Aircraft Digital Fuel Management System

Analog fuel quantity gauging technique and simple mechanical control has been the standard method of aircraft fuel system. But this method has a lot of defects. The defects can be improved by using digital fuel management system which is based on fuel management computer to perform fuel quantity gauging, fuel system control and data management. Digital fuel management system is the future of aircraft fuel system. This thesis described fuel management system theory and system reliability design to set forth system fuel management general design thought. Many technical details are discussed in the thesis such as: fuel quantity measurement, fuel mass character calculation, fuel density measurement, the accuracy of fuel quantity measurement, the optimum location of fuel gauge probes in the fuel tank. The author brings forward a new method which is based on the software of CATIA to calculate fuel mass character. Finally, the future of fuel management system is discussed.
