Some construction specific characteristics for semerigid base course material of lime fly-ash mixture are studied systematically in this paper, which consists of possibility of delayed base compaction, strength regeneration and continuous construction between base course and pavement etc. Through laboratory tests, rules of delayed base compaction, features of strength regeneration and primary conditions of continue construction are explored respectively. Based on the studies, it is proved that lime fly-ash mixture is provided with more time to compact during construction compared with other base materials in forming even higher structure strength but not in reducing strength within 1~3 days period of time. Meanwhile, structure strength of the mixture which has been destroyed by some reasons can be recovered in a great extent if original structure is regained. On the other hand, during the high temperature summer season or under other conditions promoting the mixture to form strength, continuous construction process between lime fly-ash base course and bituminous pavement can be carried out to complete the building process in short time. The research results shows lime fly-ash mixture of semerigid base course possesses a series of construction characteristics.Based on above research results, mechanism of the mixture features is studied by some methods, such as chemical analysis, electron microscope and X-raying and so on to explain the characteristic principle. Research conclusion confirms it is the high content of useful fly-ash composition and the high structure polymeric degree that lime fly-ash mixture not only can present possibility of delayed base compaction and strength regeneration compared with other base materials but also can take continuous construction process to compact base course and pavement.
