Based on field investigation of loess slope and spot sample test of loess slope in typical road section of existing highway and highway under construction in Sanmenxia area, the stability characteristic of loess slope and the chief physical and mechanical property of natural loess in this district are studied in this thesis. At the same time, on the base of the analysis and study of the characteristic of sliding stability failure of loess slope in Sanmenxia area, a method, which is suitable for many horizons of soil and slopes of different shape, is adopted to analyze the stability of four deep-cutting loess slope solid projects. The result shows that this method is applicable and proper, and the stability characteristic of loess slope in Sanmenxia area is achieved thoroughly. Through the investigation and theoretical analysis, a design method of deep-cutting loess slope in Sanmenxia area is presented in this thesis. After that, parameters of soil property are discussed in this thesis, and a proper test scheme, which is suitable for the practical conditions of a project, is put forward to get these parameters. At the end of this thesis, some measures are presented to improve the stability of the slope on the base of investigation and analysis of loess slope, which is affected by rainfall erosion.
