The Post-modernism continued the seeking for the essence of the architecture space, as well modified and expanded the limitation of modernism. New modernism was mature through the development of the architecture thoughts. It persisted on the rationalization and functionality of the modernism. New modernism developed and modified itself based on the different points in the frame of modernism. The function was the objective of a building no matter which stage the modernism was in. This idea was the absolutely complete understand of the building essence and rationalization of the building space and form. With the development of the times, the understanding of the building function connotation was becoming perfect. The intrinsic logicality of the building space would be paid attention to. Based on the rationality principle, the idea got over the excessive doctrinairism of modernism, which could obstruct the representation of the individuality and feeling of a building. Henri Ciriani was born at 1936, then immigrated to France. He played a crucial role on the birth and growth of New Corbusier. Henri Ciriani raised the "city function" concept of building and developed and furthered the meaning of the building function. His building space was precise, organization of internal geometry and the connectivity of whole building were rational and explicit because he continued the rationality and logicality of the modernism. He leaded New Corbusier to inherit the prewar rationality and the essence of functionism successfully and pushed the modernism to new height.2 Design idea and examples analysis of Henri Ciriani2.1 Building and external space scaleBuilding design should be related with external circumstance of city and emphasized the order and space character. The essence of the relationship of the building and external circumstance was expressed on the following two aspects. The requirement to the external building circumstance affected the building form. On the other hand, the erection of building stimulated the development and perfection of the whole frame and form character of the oldbuilding external circumstance. It emphasized the character of the building circumstance as well.
