The paper mainly studies several methods about the damage detection of the engineer structure. The main idea of vibration-based method is that the changes of the mass and the stiffness may be lead to the change of the dynamic characters (such as the modal frequency and the mode-shape etc). But the changes of the two parameters are only used to appreciate that the structure is good or not. But the location and extent of the damage can't be located and estimated by these parameters. The modal curvature, the flexibility matrix, the residual force vector and the damage index methods have been presented to delete the damage in the paper. The location and the extent of the damage can be reflected by these methods. The paper mainly studies the application and the validity of these methods. The cantilever beam and the 10-store structure are used to testify the methods. The appropriate method should be chosen according to the experiment limit and the FE model.
