It is important for slope stability analysis and evaluation in the research of a slope. There is much data to be dealed with in spatial area in this process. The Geographic Information System (GIS) is suited to do spatial analysis and corresponding data management. This paper explores in the research of slope stability analysis using GIS. Based on the theory of the spatial information system and "multi-layer DEM" model of slope, the building process of the "multi-layer DEM" model and the digital model decribing of the parameter distribution of Dongmiaojia Slide in XiaoLangDi are described. The layer analysis model of the three-dimensional limit equilibrium analysis of slope stability based on the similar mechanics of Bishop's method and Spencer's method, and the corresponding concepts of image of slide resistance factor spectrum of slide resistance factor N image of pull force distribution and spectrum of pull force distribution are introduced. In addition, the dynamic layer analysis of slope stability under the influence of grounder water is introduced, the dynamic database of the water level of Dongmiaojia Slide is studied and developed. Based on these results, the Layer Analysis Information System of Slope Stability (SSLAIS) is designed and developed. This software is used for building the spatial information system of a slope and doing the layer analysis of slope stability. The slope stability of Dongmiaojia Slide is analyzed and evaluated by SSLAIS. Through this porcess, the layer analysis method and the software of SSLAIS are evaluated. Finally, The application of GIS in the study of slope stability analysis is summarized.
