The corrosion experiments of uranium in dry moist air at different temperatures had been performed using weight gain method after its surface was treated with CO. and the oxidation kinetic curves(~w-t)had been gained . Evidence from kinetic data demostrate that the weight gain of oxide layer on surface of treated uranium is parabolic with time in the early stages of oxidation(the first stage); comparision of the corrosion resistance of untreated uranium , that of treated uranium is improved, and increased with the rising of the dose of CO in this experimental range. The electrochemical corrosion resistance of treated uranium in three kinds of solution ( 14mmol/LCI~~ lmol/LH2SO4.. lmol/LnaOH)had been studied using electrochemical measurement. The investigation indicates that ,after uranium surface was treated with CO, the electrochemical corrosion resistance of uranium surface is enhanced, and also increased with the increasing of the dose of CO. The effect of carbon monoxide on corrosion characteristics of uranium surface had also been studied by Auger electron spectroscopy( AES) and X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The results show that ,after uranium treated with CO.the thin film(layer) on its surface is mainly composed of UO2 and UC(or UCXOY), and the thickness of carbon-rich layer in the thin film increases with the rising dose of CO, this is probably the reason that the corrosion resistance is enhanced after uranium surface was treated with CO...
