Objects of design and design process are two important points of Engineering Design Studying on technical system(TS) and its design process is relatively mature now. But when designing TS, the outcomes are often unsatisfactory because human. TS, technical process and operational environment are not considered systematically The question of this thesis,human-machine system design has been put forward in the backgroundThis thesis firstly introduces basic knowledge about the field of design and EngineeringDesign It secondly introduces the idea and theory of systematic design taking the object ofdesign as a system and taking design itself a system And it also introduces the development oflogical procedures and process in design This paper mainly try to discuss human-machinesystem(human-technical subsystem-technical process-operational environment system)andto formulate its design process. Technical process connects human, TS and operationalenvironment dynamically and the overall performance of the system depends upon the fourfactors. Human-machine system design is to utilize the connections among these factors to findout the optimum parameters of the system The design process of human-machine system consistsof four stages: Clarify the task, Conceptual design Embodiment of schemes and Detailing. Tocompare with the design process of TS, human-machine function distribution , operationalanalysis, human interface design evaluation of Ergonomics and performance aidsdesign are added in the process. The idea of human system is carried out in the wholedesign process.The theory of human-machine system design stem from Ergonomics opens up a new way ofthinking for Engineering Design.
