At present, safety and stability control is the key research project in the powersystem. Based on the analysis of the present stage of the excitation controller, andfocused on the structure and parameters uncertainty character of the power system,this paper presents a method for design robust excitation controller for the powersystem. This paper uses the single machine infinite bus system as a model, themathematical model of the excitation system in the hydro generator system is given.Firstly, through analyzing the optimal excitation controller, a method for designinginverse optimal controller is put forward. Thus the selection of the weigh matrixes inthe performance index of the linear optimal control is obviated. Secondly, the robustexcitation controller is designed in line with the H_∞ optimal control theory is suggested.But it has many disadvantages, such as the high order of the controller, complicatedand difficulty to apply in engineer. This paper formulates a noniterative methodologyfor designing robust exciting controller for the power system. This kind of robustcontroller has many advantages, such as easy to design, simple for its structure andhas the high robustness to prevent system parameter disturbances. Lastly, resortingto computer simulation, research on noniterative methodology based robust controlleris made. The results show that, the robust controller is superior to the conventionalcontroller in respect of preventing the parameter disturbances of the power system.
