The requirement for the construction has become more complex and diversified due to rapid development of urbanization. In the process of industrial construction, the technical incidents happened at the supporting of the formwork occupy a significant proportion among the other technical incidents in the construction field. In this thesis, the author used the finite element analytic method done in computer to study the abnormal deflection of the long-span bridge built for one of the schools in Macao in order to analyze the problem of supporting in the formwork and finally to propose two methods in order to solve this kind of problem based on the result of the analysis. During the bridge construction, it was discovered that the buckling load had destroyed the supporting in the deck of the bridge. This destroys was not triggered by any external load. It was due to the redistribution of internal stress in the bridge by the development of reinforced concrete rigid applied in different time of casting the concrete. This redistribution of internal stress increased the reaction force in some supports of the deck. Therefore, it caused the supports to fail by buckling due to increased reaction force. In addition, insufficient number of supports installed during construction also contributed to this failure. The occurrence of the buckling of formwork support in bridge reveals that structure analysis of formwork support was neglected by the constructor who installed the support by the technical experience, in addition to the neglect of supervision by relevant authorities. In accordance with the reality in Macao, the author proposes two methods to install the supporting in formwork for bridge based on the result of finite element analytic method and discusses the feasibility of these methods in solving the buckling problem in formwork support for bridges. In hope, this will improve the quality and safety of the construction.
