Drag anchor is an important element in deep water mooring systems, and it is coupled with the drag line. Investigating the reverse catenary property in the seabed soils has great effects on improving the dragging performance, predicting the kinematic trajectory of drag anchors exactly, and solving the problems in accurate positioning of drag anchors in engineering application. The theoretical derivation and numerical model are adopted to investigate the reverse catenary property at present. The experimental study on the reverse catenary property is presented, including real-time measurement of the reverse catenary profile and the movement rule of the embedment point in the seabed soils. Firstly, in this paper, after broad investigations, a creative measurement method is designed. According to the core theory of the method, the measurement system has been installed and debugged well. Lastly, the experiments are carried out.Based on the results of model tests, the dynamic change of the reverse catenary profile in the seabed soils and the movement rule of the embedment point are analyzed. By comparing the experimental results with theoretical results, the theoretical derivation of numerical model is calibrated for further development.
